The process to the easiest family meal planning is super quick:
- Make a list of your family favourite meals / meals you like to make (stop at around 10 meals).
- Divide the meals into 5 days (for the week), weekends are usually unplanned.
- Jot down the ingredients for each meal to ensure you have a grocery list that will last the whole month.
This is my family plan:
Spaghetti & mince, Chicken & veggy pie, Breakfast for dinner (my favourite!), Indian dahl & rice, Butter chicken & rice, Chicken & mushroom pasta, Burritos, Stirfry, Curry & rice, Hamburgers, Shrimp pasta and Stew & rice.
Don’t judge, we like rice 🙂 haha. A lot of these meals share ingredients, like the rice, I usually make enough to last for 2 dinners.
|Take out night||Chicken pie||Breaky for dinner||Dahl & rice||Butter chicken & leftover rice|
|Chicken mushroom pasta||Burritos||Stirfry||Curry & rice||Burgers|
|Spaghetti & mince||Chicken pie||Breaky for dinner||Dahl & rice||Butter chicken & rice|
|Shrimp pasta||Burritos||Stirfry||Stew & rice||Burgers|
So basically I make the same meal twice a month. Since it’s our favourites, it’s great!
What ingredients we share
Chicken breasts, rice (obvs), onions, flour (used for the pasta sauce & the wrap, which I make from scratch #whoop) and general ingredients such as onions, peppers and spices.
Basic grocery list (for the month)
|VEGGIES||DAIRY||GRAINS||MEAT STUFF||HERBS & CANS|
|Peppers||Eggs||Pasta (3 different shapes)||Frozen shrimp||Chives|
|Tomatoes||Cheese||Bread||Beef strips||Canned tomatoes|
|Mixed veg||Butter||Pastry x2 rolls||Burger patties||Tomato paste|
Check out the PDF’s below. The meal calendar can be printed on normal paper A4 size to plonk on your fridge, just fill in the meals you’ve planned for the month. The grocery list can be printed on A4 normal paper too 🙂
